On February 8, 2025, the School of Nursing at Kharadar General Hospital organized a Free Medical and Health Camp, led by students of Generic BSN Semester VIII and Post RN Semester III, as part of their curriculum and commitment to community health. The initiative provided free medical consultations, treatment, and health awareness to approximately 600 underserved individuals, including males, females, and children.
A team of doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals facilitated medical check-ups, consultations, and awareness sessions on critical health topics, including diabetes, hypertension, diarrhea and waterborne diseases, and antenatal and postnatal care. In addition, the camp featured specialized stalls and consultant clinics for ophthalmology, general medicine, pediatrics, and gynecology, ensuring that attendees received expert medical advice and treatment.
The event was inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, attended by Chief Guest, Ms. Shakila Chochanwala, a philanthropist and healthcare advocate; Guest of Honor, Major Munnanza Parveen, Associate Professor of Nursing Education at Jinnah College of Nursing – Sohail University; Special Guest, Ms. Shakra Naeem; CEO of Kharadar General Hospital, Dr. Khalid Iqbal; Director of the School of Nursing KGH, Ms. Talat Parveen Shah, and Principal Mr. Muhammad Shahid.
In her address, the Chief Guest, Ms. Shakila Chochanwala, praised the efforts of the students and faculty in organizing this essential healthcare initiative. She also acknowledged the unwavering support of Mr. Bashir Janmuhammad, President of Kharadar General Hospital, and his family, for their commitment to serving the community. Guest of Honor, Major Munnanza Parveen, commended the dedication of the hospital and SON team, faculty, and students in promoting primary healthcare awareness and accessibility to those in need.
This comprehensive healthcare initiative not only provided free medical services to hundreds of underserved individuals but also offered students invaluable hands-on experience in patient care, community outreach, and health promotion.
